About the Technology
Camcon® binary actuating technology has been [15 years] in development and is the invention of Camcon Technology founder Wladyslaw Wygnanski.
Each Camcon actuator or valve design is based on the same fundamental concept. A low impedance coil is used to momentarily change the spatial distribution of magnetic flux, generated by a high-power, high density permanent magnet or magnets. As a result a spring-loaded armature is catapulted from one stable position to the opposite stable position.
Only a short pulse of electrical energy is required by the electromagnetic coil for a fraction of a second to disrupt the magnetic field and allow the spring to alter the armature's position. Once the energy is applied, the armature quickly accelerates and cuts through the magnetic field. As the armature moves to the opposite pole, it decelerates to a standstill and its energy recycled through a pair of springs. This movement is called a soft-landing and unlike other actuator designs, it reduces impact stress to the armature and pole pieces, leading to a high level of reliability and long life.
When placed within the target area, such as a tube of pipe, the armature's movement prevents the passage of gas or liquid. As the operation is bi-stable, only on/off status being permitted by nature of the concept, precise and programmable digital control can also be applied. |
